The breach may have<strong> disclosed personal information<\/strong> \u2014 including Social Security numbers, income amounts, names, addresses, and contact information. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Politico<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/04\/21\/small-business-data-breach-emergency-loans-199463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a> the breach <strong>affected 7,900 applicants<\/strong> for the EIDL program.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;<\/p>\r\n<p class=\" story-text__paragraph\"><strong>04\/22\/2020 &#8211;<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNBC<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/04\/21\/large-public-companies-are-taking-small-businesses-payroll-loans.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reporting<\/a> that <strong>70% of the <\/strong><strong>Paycheck Protection Program<\/strong> emergency funding has been claimed by <strong>large, publicly traded companies<\/strong>. Data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morganstanley.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morgan Stanley<\/a> found that at least $243.4 million of the $349 billion available went to publicly traded companies.<\/p>\r\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2020\/04\/20\/white-house-gop-face-heat-after-hotel-restaurant-chains-helped-run-small-business-program-dry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bankrupt<\/a> PPP was supposed to help America&#8217;s small businesses stay afloat and prevent mass layoffs during the COVID lockdown. Morgan Stanley&#8217;s data shows that <strong>15 firms worth over $100M got government funds. Among the<\/strong> wealthy firms claiming support are <strong>oil services<\/strong> company DMC Global. They got $6.7M. B<strong>iotechnology<\/strong> company Wave Life Sciences got $7.2 M. But here we go again &#8211; down the economic commode abetted by bad policy and greed<\/em>. Businesses are lining up for a government COVID bailout. Here are a few examples.<\/p>\r\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fast Company<\/a><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90479209\/heres-how-much-bailout-money-industries-want-to-survive-the-coronavirus-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a> that the <strong>hotel industry<\/strong> has met with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/mar-a-lago-shuttered-as-trumps-clubs-and-restaurants-suffer-from-coronavirus-fallout\/2020\/03\/20\/dae785c0-6ad2-11ea-b313-df458622c2cc_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chief inn-keeper<\/a>. They want <strong>$150 billion<\/strong> for hotel loan payments and employee layoff packages.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/massachusetts\/falmouth\/protecting-people--not-greedy-business-must-be-governments-priority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-113446 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/greedy-6.jpg?resize=75%2C67&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"67\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/greedy-6.jpg?resize=75%2C67&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/greedy-6.jpg?resize=150%2C133&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/greedy-6.jpg?w=490&amp;ssl=1 490w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 75px) 100vw, 75px\" \/><\/a>Disney, Universal, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/04\/16\/barry-diller-expedia-wont-even-spend-1-billion-on-ads-this-year.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Expedia<\/a> <\/b>through\u00a0their lobbyist U.S. Travel Association<b>, <\/b>requested\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90479209\/heres-how-much-bailout-money-industries-want-to-survive-the-coronavirus-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>$100 billion<\/strong><\/a> in a meeting with the Trumpster.<\/p>\r\n<p>The <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LA Times<\/a><\/em> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/story\/2020-04-14\/hedge-fund-coronavirus-bailout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reporting<\/a> that <strong>hedge funds<\/strong>, firms that control <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibisworld.com\/industry-statistics\/market-size\/hedge-funds-united-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$80.5 Billion<\/a><\/strong> are claiming to be small businesses, They are seeking a bailout from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kfyrtv.com\/content\/news\/Payment-Protection-Program-runs-out-of-funding--569712681.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">broken<\/a> <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/system\/files\/136\/PPP--Fact-Sheet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paycheck Protection Program<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/1\/14\/21065581\/boeing-orders-cancellation-737-max-2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bumbling<\/a> aerospace giant <strong>Boeing<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/boeing.mediaroom.com\/news-releases-statements?item=130642\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wants<\/a> a <strong>$60 billion<\/strong> bailout. Boeing&#8217;s problems started a year ago before COVID hit with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2019\/3\/22\/18275736\/boeing-737-max-plane-crashes-grounded-problems-info-details-explained-reasons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">737 MAX tragedies<\/a>. The corporation paid out <a href=\"https:\/\/promarket.org\/the-covid-19-bailout-that-big-business-is-lobbying-for-could-make-america-unrecognizable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$65 billion in stock buybacks<\/a> and dividends over the last ten years. It is highly politically connected.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/story\/news\/2015\/12\/11\/nmsu-tops-public-lobbyist-list-nearly-853000\/77176226\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-112708 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/stack_o-money.jpg?resize=75%2C68&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"68\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/stack_o-money.jpg?resize=75%2C68&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/stack_o-money.jpg?w=150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 75px) 100vw, 75px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.airlines.org\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Airlines<\/strong> for America<\/a> wants <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90479209\/heres-how-much-bailout-money-industries-want-to-survive-the-coronavirus-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">$50 billion<\/a>.<\/strong> The groups members include American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and Alaska Airlines, has \u00a0That is in spite of spending 96% of their free cash flow in the past decade on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-03-16\/u-s-airlines-spent-96-of-free-cash-flow-on-buybacks-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">buying back their own shares of stock<\/a>. The facts are that airline bankruptcy presents <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercatus.org\/publications\/covid-19-policy-brief-series\/case-against-bailing-out-airline-industry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no significant risk<\/a> to the economy<\/strong> as a whole. Airlines have safely flown through bankruptcy in the past.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Airports:<\/strong> The, Airports Council International-North America and the American Association of Airport Executives requested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90479209\/heres-how-much-bailout-money-industries-want-to-survive-the-coronavirus-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>$10 billion<\/strong><\/a> from Congress, to be directed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.petoskeynews.com\/featured-pnr\/pellston-airport-receives-stimulus-dollars-through-cares-act\/article_a8d00e2e-b2c3-5ad8-9f37-fd06c5f6fc29.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. airports for coronavirus relief<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>Two of <strong>the richest people in the world<\/strong> want bailouts. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/04\/16\/business\/elon-musk-ventilators-coronavirus\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elon Musk<\/a><\/strong> of <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/energy-environment\/491299-how-spacex-is-prospering-in-the-year-of-the-coronavirus-pandemic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SpaceX<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/how-rich-is-jeff-bezos-mind-blowing-facts-net-worth-2019-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jeff Bezos<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/business.financialpost.com\/personal-finance\/high-net-worth\/jeff-bezos-added-24-billion-to-his-fortune-so-far-this-pandemic-as-worlds-rich-reap-bailout-rewards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">world&#8217;s richest man<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2020\/03\/10\/trump-oil-bailout\/\"><em>Washington Post<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>reported that Trump was \u201cstrongly considering\u201d a federal <strong>bailout for the fracking industry<\/strong>. One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2020\/03\/10\/trump-oil-bailout\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">politically connected<\/a> shale oil company, Continental Resources, founded by Harold Hamm, a Trump supporter\u00a0 lost more than half of its market value<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><em>rb-<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><em>One that I can agree on. <strong>The National Restaurant Association<\/strong>\u00a0wants a <strong>$455 billion<\/strong> aid package. Trumpies 2021 budget <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2020\/03\/donald-trump-coronavirus-bailout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cuts funding<\/a><\/strong> for the CDC by $1.2 billion (15%) and eliminates $35 million of the Infectious Diseases Rapid Response Reserve Fund.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p><em><strong>Why use taxpayer money to help out companies<\/strong> that goose their stock price rather than saving the funds for a rainy day?<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p><em>As Judge Leo Strine Jr., former chief justice of the Delaware Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/04\/10\/business\/dealbook\/coronavirus-corporate-governance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a> for the NYT &#8211; families are encouraged to put aside a reserve to pay their mortgages and bills and to feed themselves in case of an emergency.
