Flash was originally released by <a title=\"Adobe\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adobe<\/a>\u00a0(<a title=\"NASDAQ : ADBE\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-ADBE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ADBE<\/a>) in January 1996 and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/3796\/websites-using-flash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">used by 30% of the web<\/a>. Flash led the way to a more graphical inter-tubes while Microsoft and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2014-05-10-history-of-netscape.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Netscape<\/a> duked it out &#8211; in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/definition\/27790\/browser-wars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Browser Wars<\/a>. Thankfully <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220125072437\/https:\/\/whatis.techtarget.com\/definition\/HTML5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HTML5<\/a> is here and we can say <strong>see ya! Flash<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-116158 size-thumbnail\" title=\"Adobe logo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_adobe_logo.jpg?resize=58%2C75&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Adobe logo\" width=\"58\" height=\"75\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_adobe_logo.jpg?resize=58%2C75&amp;ssl=1 58w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_adobe_logo.jpg?resize=116%2C150&amp;ssl=1 116w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_adobe_logo.jpg?w=188&amp;ssl=1 188w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 58px) 100vw, 58px\" \/><\/a>The final release of Flash was made on December 8, 2021. On January 12, 2021, Adobe will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/flashplayer\/end-of-life.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">officially pull the plug<\/a> on Flash.Adobe will block Flash content from running in Flash Player. Adobe pre-announced the end of Flash as early as July 2017 and phased out support for it on December 31.<\/p>\r\n<p>You may see an Adobe flash \u201c<strong>you need to uninstall me<\/strong>\u201d notification on your computer.\u00a0 In fact, your browser has been notifying that it will is blocking Flash. The (new) Edge Chrome and Firefox, by default block Flash.<\/p>\r\n<h3>So, what is the home user to do about Flash<\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>Do nothing &#8211;<\/strong> If you are using a modern web browser &#8211; Adobe Flash is already blocked &#8211; what you did not notice?<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-116152\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_adobe_flash.jpg?resize=75%2C75&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_adobe_flash.jpg?resize=75%2C75&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_adobe_flash.jpg?w=150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 75px) 100vw, 75px\" \/>Do nothing (Again) &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0Microsoft will be pushing out KB4577586 during an <a href=\"https:\/\/msrc.microsoft.com\/update-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">upcoming patch Tuesday<\/a>. The update will remove \u201cAdobe Flash Player that was installed by your version of Windows.&#8221; If you installed Adobe Flash Player manually from an:other source, it will not be removed.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Do it yourself (Adobe)<\/strong> &#8211; To completely remove Adobe Flash Player from your computer click &#8220;Uninstall&#8221; when prompted by Adobe in Flash Player.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Do it yourself (Microsoft) &#8211;<\/strong> Manually download KB4577586 from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalog.update.microsoft.com\/search.aspx?q=4577586\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">catalog site<\/a> by matching up the version you have.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Use the Adobe Flash uninstaller<\/strong> &#8211; If ever downloaded and installed Adobe Flash Player in IE, Firefox or other browser yourself. Download the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/helpx.adobe.com\/flash-player\/kb\/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Adobe Flash Uninstaller for Window<\/a><\/strong> from Adobe <strong>Follow the instructions<\/strong> there.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bobvila.com\/articles\/best-kitchen-trash-can\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-116156\" title=\"Use the Adobe Flash uninstaller\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/garbage_can-e1610414424268-75x72.png?resize=100%2C96&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/garbage_can-e1610414424268.png?resize=75%2C72&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/garbage_can-e1610414424268.png?resize=150%2C144&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/garbage_can-e1610414424268.png?w=572&amp;ssl=1 572w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 100px) 100vw, 100px\" \/><\/a>Be sure you <strong>manually delete<\/strong> any remaining files in the four folders listed in STEP # 3 of the Adobe instructions, including files in the <strong>hidden<\/strong> %appdata%\\Adobe\\Flash Player and %appdata%\\Macromedia\\Flash Player folders.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Verify Flash is gone<\/strong> &#8211; To see if Flash is gone &#8211; open the OLD IE and go to Adobe <a href=\"https:\/\/helpx.adobe.com\/flash-player.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">here<\/a>. The Adobe testing site will let you know if flash is still installed.<\/p>\r\n<h3>So, what about enterprise users?<\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>Enterprise users<\/strong> have options. If you have an internal business need for Flash support and <strong>commercial licensing,<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/services.harman.com\/partners\/adobe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reach out<\/a> to HARMAN for licensing, according to an Adobe <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210807152328\/https:\/\/blog.adobe.com\/en\/fpost\/2020\/update-for-enterprise-adobe-flash-player.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>Microsoft also said that customers will still be able to run the\u00a0 software.
