The <a title=\"Federal Emergency Management Agency\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Federal Emergency Management Agency<\/a> (FEMA) and the <a title=\"Federal Communications Commission\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Federal Communications Commission<\/a> (FCC) will conduct a test, causing a blackout for every phone and TV in the US. The <strong>Feds will conduct a nationwide test<\/strong> of the Wireless Emergency Alerts and Emergency Alert System on October 4th. This test will temporarily blackout all consumer cell phones, and also be sent to radio and TV stations.<br \/><br \/><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-129493\" title=\"nationwide test\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/027ff8eb-f24a-4b13-bac7-6ee252594c04-e1695501148168-68x150.jpg?resize=56%2C125&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"nationwide test\" width=\"56\" height=\"125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/027ff8eb-f24a-4b13-bac7-6ee252594c04-e1695501148168.jpg?resize=68%2C150&amp;ssl=1 68w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/027ff8eb-f24a-4b13-bac7-6ee252594c04-e1695501148168.jpg?resize=34%2C75&amp;ssl=1 34w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/027ff8eb-f24a-4b13-bac7-6ee252594c04-e1695501148168.jpg?w=401&amp;ssl=1 401w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 56px) 100vw, 56px\" \/>The blackout will test the <strong>Wireless Emergency Alerts<\/strong> (WEA) and the <strong>Emergency Alert System<\/strong> (EAS). Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 PM ET on Wednesday, October 4th. The October 4th test aims to ensure that the systems remain effective for warning the public about emergencies, especially at the national level.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Wireless Emergency Alerts<\/h3>\r\n<p>The <a title=\"Wireless Emergency Alerts\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/emergency-managers\/practitioners\/integrated-public-alert-warning-system\/public\/wireless-emergency-alerts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wireless Emergency Alerts<\/a> <a title=\"IPAWS National Test 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/emergency-managers\/practitioners\/integrated-public-alert-warning-system\/national-test-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">test<\/a> be will directed. <strong>FEMA<\/strong> will send a code to all cell phones, and the test message will display in either English or Spanish, depending on the language settings of the wireless handset. The WEA test will be initiated using FEMA\u2019s <a title=\"Integrated Public Alert &amp; Warning System\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/emergency-managers\/practitioners\/integrated-public-alert-warning-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Integrated Public Alert and Warning System<\/a> (IPAWS), a centralized internet-based system administered by FEMA that enables authorities to send authenticated emergency messages to the public through multiple communications networks.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/wasmessage-e1695503454776.png?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-129495\" title=\"Wireless Emergency Alert\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/wasmessage-e1695503454776-150x88.png?resize=120%2C70&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Wireless Emergency Alert\" width=\"120\" height=\"70\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/wasmessage-e1695503454776.png?resize=150%2C88&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/wasmessage-e1695503454776.png?resize=75%2C44&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/wasmessage-e1695503454776.png?w=444&amp;ssl=1 444w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 120px) 100vw, 120px\" \/><\/a>The message will be sent at approximately 2:20 PM. Cell towers will broadcast the test for approximately 30 minutes. All wireless phones should receive the message only once. Consumers will see the message on their phones, which will read&#8230;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><br \/>\u201cTHIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. The one minute EAS alert will be sent to radios and televisions. The alert message will be similar to the regular monthly EAS test messages that we are familiar with.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><br \/>\u201cThis is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. &#8220;<\/p>\r\n<p>If they need to postpone the October 4th test due to widespread severe weather or other significant events the back-up testing date is October 11.<\/p>\r\n<h3><em>rb-<\/em><\/h3>\r\n<p><em>Will the MAGA Republican government shutdown impact this test?
