LinkedIn&#8217;s <\/span>generative AI is trained on huge sets of data. The data is often scraped from publicly available Internet resources. Think news articles, academic research, government reports and public information, for example.\u00a0<span class=\"\"> It need the data to learn how to improve grammar, vocabulary, and context.\u00a0 <\/span>The more diverse and higher-quality data it collects, the better its predictions and accuracy.<\/p>\n<p aria-live=\"polite\" aria-atomic=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/linkedin-hacked-e1729100511509.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-132678\" title=\"LinkedIn's generative AI\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/linkedin-hacked-e1729100511509-150x138.jpg?resize=100%2C92&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"LinkedIn's generative AI\" width=\"100\" height=\"92\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/linkedin-hacked-e1729100511509.jpg?resize=150%2C138&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/linkedin-hacked-e1729100511509.jpg?resize=75%2C69&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/linkedin-hacked-e1729100511509.jpg?w=204&amp;ssl=1 204w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 100px) 100vw, 100px\" \/><\/a>To improve its bot, <strong>LinkedIn collects data<\/strong> when you <strong>interact<\/strong> with its generative AI, whether composing a post, changing your preferences, or providing feedback.\u00a0 LinkedIn also gathers data when you <strong>engage with other people&#8217;s posts<\/strong> on LinkedIn.\u00a0 The artificial intelligence training option is turned <strong>&#8216;on&#8217; by default.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p aria-live=\"polite\" aria-atomic=\"true\">Fortunately, LinkedIn added an <strong>opt-out option<\/strong> for the LLM training.\u00a0 Otherwise, beginning November 20, it would start using your data for AI training.\u00a0 According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/help\/linkedin\/answer\/a5538339?hcppcid=search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LinkedIn&#8217;s FAQ page<\/a>,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; padding-left: 40px;\" aria-live=\"polite\" aria-atomic=\"true\"><em>&#8220;opting out means that LinkedIn and its affiliates will not use your personal data or content on LinkedIn to train models going forward, but it does not affect training that has already taken place.&#8221; refer to companies owned by Microsoft.\u00a0 Microsoft has a stake in <a title=\"What Companies Does Microsoft Own?\" href=\"https:\/\/theorg.com\/iterate\/what-companies-does-microsoft-own\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener ugc\">289 companies<\/a>, including five artificial intelligence firms.\u00a0 Therefore, based on LinkedIn&#8217;s FAQ statement, LinkedIn&#8217;s LLM and its <strong>289 affiliates use your data<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the primary concerns about LinkedIn using your data for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/ai-is-not-a-new-technology-heres-how-old-it-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI<\/a> training is the potential <strong>invasion of your privacy<\/strong>.\u00a0 These models often produce outputs based on the data provided during training.\u00a0 A generative artificial intelligence model will show you <strong>rehashed or repurposed versions<\/strong> of its training data as output.\u00a0 Rachel Tobac, CEO of<a title=\"SocialProof Security\" href=\"https:\/\/www.socialproofsecurity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener ugc\"> SocialProof Security<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RachelTobac\/status\/1836486017798512840\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a>\u00a0<em><a title=\"LinkedIn is training AI models on your data\" href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/news\/linkedin-is-training-ai-models-on-your-data\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener ugc\">Technopedia<\/a>,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;
