The <a title=\"Internet Society\" href=\"https:\/\/www.isoc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener noreferrer\">Internet Society<\/a> announced that the <a title=\"www.worldipv6launch.org\" href=\"http:\/\/www.worldipv6launch.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IPv6 switch<\/a> will be permanently flipped on June 6th, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The article says a number of major ISPs, networking hardware manufacturers, and web companies pledged support from day one. For starters, four of the biggest web properties will all enable IPv6 permanently:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Google,<\/li>\n<li>Facebook,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft<\/a> <a title=\"Microsoft Live Search\" href=\"http:\/\/www.live.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener noreferrer\">(<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-MSFT\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MSFT<\/a><a title=\"www.bing.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener noreferrer\">)<\/a><a title=\"www.bing.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener noreferrer\">Bing<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>and <a title=\"www.wikinvest.com\" href=\"https:\/\/wp.me\/p2wgaW-umn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yahoo<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldipv6launch.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-109628\" title=\"Cisco logo\" 75w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 120px) 100vw, 120px\" \/><\/a>From a hardware perspective,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cisco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cisco<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-CSCO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CSCO<\/a>) and\u00a0<a title=\"D-Link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dlink.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">D-Link<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/TWSE-2332\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2332<\/a>) both committed to enabling IPv6 across their range of home products by June.<\/p>\n<p><em><a title=\"gigaom.com\" href=\"http:\/\/gigaom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GigaOM<\/a><\/em> <a title=\"gigaom.com\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20120422013657\/http:\/\/gigaom.com:80\/broadband\/world-ipv6-switch-over-event-scheduled-for-june-6\/?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a> that\u00a0Akamai (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-AKAM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AKAM<\/a>) and <a title=\"Limelight Networks\" href=\"https:\/\/www.limelight.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Limelight<\/a> (<a title=\"NASDAQ : LLNW\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/phoenix\/news\/2022\/03\/07\/limelight-to-acquire-edgecast-and-rebrand.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LLNW<\/a>) will also recruit other websites to join the initiative, by implementing IPv6 throughout their content delivery networks.<\/p>\n<p>Several leading ISP&#8217;s will enable IPv6 to enough of their customer base that at least one percent of their residential subscribers who visit IPv6 enabled websites;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.carrierbid.com\/who-has-time-for-pots-lines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CMCSA)<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Free Telecom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.free.fr\/adsl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Free Telecom<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"KDDI\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20140221103409\/http:\/\/www.kddi.com:80\/english\/ipv6\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener
