The <a title=\"www.huffingtonpost.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Huffington Post<\/em><\/a> <a title=\"www.huffingtonpost.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/01\/31\/neil-young-steve-jobs-vinyl_n_1245353.html?ref=technology&amp;ir=Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a> that the master of the one-note guitar solo says he was discussing a <a title=\"High fidelity\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/High_fidelity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia noreferrer\">Hi-Fi<\/a> <a title=\"iPod\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/ipod\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iPod<\/a> type device with the late <a title=\"Steve Jobs\" href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/inside\/steve-jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Jobs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2006\/05\/26\/jobs-you-have-to-buy-a-new-ipod-at-least-once-a-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-119493\" title=\"Steve Jobs didn't use his iPod at home\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/jobswithipod.jpg?resize=100%2C76&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Steve Jobs didn't use his iPod at home\" width=\"100\" height=\"76\" \/><\/a><a title=\"Neil Young\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Neil_Young\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Young<\/a> said the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apple<\/a> (<a title=\"NASDAQ : AAPL\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-AAPL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AAPL<\/a>) co-founder was such a fan of music that he didn&#8217;t use his iPod and its digitally compressed files at home. Instead, he used a physical format well-known to have better sound. &#8220;<em><a title=\"Steve Jobs\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/stevejobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Jobs<\/a> was a pioneer of digital music. His legacy is tremendous,<\/em>&#8221; <a title=\"musicbrainz.org\" href=\"http:\/\/musicbrainz.org\/artist\/75167b8b-44e4-407b-9d35-effe87b223cf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Young<\/a> said. &#8220;<em>But when he went home, he listened to vinyl (albums).<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Rock and Roll Hall of Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rockhall.com\/inductees\/neil-young\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rock and Roll Hall of Famer<\/a> <a title=\"Neil Young\" href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/music\/Neil%2BYoung\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Young<\/a> says that he spoke with <a title=\"www.biography.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/steve-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jobs<\/a> about creating a high fidelity format that has 20 times better than files in the most current digital formats, including MP3.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-97842 size-medium\" title=\"Neil Young\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/neil-young.jpg?resize=102%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Neil Young\" width=\"102\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/neil-young.jpg?resize=102%2C150&amp;ssl=1 102w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/neil-young.jpg?resize=51%2C75&amp;ssl=1 51w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/neil-young.jpg?w=243&amp;ssl=1 243w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 102px) 100vw, 102px\" \/>Such a format, he said, would contain 100 percent of the data of music as it is created in a studio, as opposed to 5 percent in compressed formats including Apple&#8217;s AAC. Each song would be huge, and a new storage and playback device might only hold 30 albums. Each song would take about 30 minutes to download, which is fine if you leave your device on overnight, he said. &#8220;<em>Sleep well. Wake up in the morning. Play some real music and listen to the joy of 100 percent of the sound of music,<\/em>&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Although Young didn&#8217;t have a practical plan for developing such a format \u2013 saying it&#8217;s for &#8220;rich people&#8221; to decide \u2013 he said <a title=\"www.amazon.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Steve-Jobs-Walter-Isaacson\/dp\/1451648537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jobs<\/a> was on board with the idea before he died. &#8220;I<em> talked to Steve about it.
