ATT eliminated 12,000 of the 13,095 positions eliminated in the last month of 2008.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Layoff rogue&#8217;s gallery<\/h3>\n<p>Among the firms in the rogue&#8217;s gallery of layoffs between October 2008 and January 2009 are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20121025110152\/http:\/\/www.circuitcity.com:80\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Circuit City<\/a> with 37,400 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hp.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HP<\/a> with 24,600 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nec.com\">NEC<\/a> with 20,000 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.att.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ATT<\/a> with 12,000 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dell.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dell<\/a> with 8,900 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sprint.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sprint\/Nextel<\/a> with 8,000 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hitachi.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hitachi<\/a> with 7,000 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Intel<\/a> with 6,000 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.philips.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philips<\/a> with 6,000 layoffs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google<\/a> with 5,100 layoffs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We can hope that CEOs with their multi-million dollar salaries such as HP&#8217;s Mark Hurd who made <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20090227082001\/http:\/\/www.latimes.com:80\/business\/la-fi-hewlett21-2009jan21,0,5472760.story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">over $42.5 million<\/a> in 2008 or Sprint\/Nextel&#8217;s Gary D.
