Mr. Reese asks if Cisco purposely <strong>violate the Twitter rules<\/strong> that forbid the purchasing of accounts to gain followers?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-102873\" title=\"Cisco logo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/cisco_logo-1.jpg?resize=96%2C59&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Cisco logo\" width=\"96\" height=\"59\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/cisco_logo-1.jpg?resize=75%2C46&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/cisco_logo-1.jpg?w=136&amp;ssl=1 136w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/><\/a>Mr. Reese points to information from <a title=\"Twitter Audit\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220528090133\/https:\/\/www.twitteraudit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TwitterAudit<\/a> which exposes Twitter fraud is reporting: Approximately <strong>half-a-million<\/strong> (509,426) of the Twitter followers of the network gear maker&#8217;s Chief Strategy Officer, Padmasree Warrior, <strong>are fake Twitter accounts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Each audit takes a random sample of 5000 Twitter followers for a user and calculates a score for each follower. This score is based on number of tweets, date of the last tweet, and ratio of followers to friends. We use these scores to determine whether any given user is real or fake. It has also been covered by the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"New York Times\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorktimes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener noreferrer\"><em>New York Times<\/em><\/a>, &#8220;<a title=\"Buying Their Way to Twitter Fame\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220425220639\/https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/08\/23\/fashion\/twitter-followers-for-sale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buying Their Way to Twitter Fame<\/a>&#8221; <em>Network World<\/em>, &#8220;Inside the real economy behind fake Twitter accounts&#8221; and even mentioned on <a title=\"NPR\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NPR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>rb-<\/strong><br \/>\nI signed up to follow the networking business&#8217;s CSO to see what competitive insights I could gain from the CSO.
