It is the other 2% of your morning brew where things get interesting. According to the video, &#8220;some of the compounds in coffee would be pretty repulsive if they were present in higher concentrations.&#8221; These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2-ethylphenol, which also happens to be a <strong><a title=\"Pheromone\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pheromone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener noreferrer\">pheromone<\/a> in <a title=\"Cockroach\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cockroach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener noreferrer\">cockroaches<\/a>,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Trigonelline\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Trigonelline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener noreferrer\">Trigonelline<\/a>, which helps <strong>fend off<\/strong> the bacteria that create <strong>cavities<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>3,5 dicaffeoylquinic acid, the <strong>antioxidant<\/strong> that helps your <strong>brain<\/strong> stay healthy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Click on the video from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wired<\/a> for more info&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lSIF3A7C78c\" width=\"600\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>rb-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The cockroach pheromone is kind of creepy, but the <a title=\"Feds\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Feds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Feds<\/a> say it&#8217;s OK for the buggers to be in everything.
