CNET found that 75% of Americans use their mobile phones in the bathroom to make calls, text, and play with apps. Your mobile phone carries more germs than a toilet seat. There is speculation that they have even spread Ebola. He reports that the\u00a0<\/span>newest revision of <strong><a title=\"Gorilla Glass\" href=\"https:\/\/www.corninggorillaglass.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener noreferrer\">Gorilla Glass<\/a><\/strong> is more resilient and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phonearena.com\/news\/Future-of-phone-displays-non-reflective-antimicrobial-made-with-Corning_id44786\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>kills pesky germs<\/strong> all by itself<\/a>. Gorilla Glass covers 1.5 billion <a title=\"Mobile phone\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mobile_phone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia noreferrer\">mobile phones<\/a>\u00a0worldwide, including all <a title=\"Apple Computers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apple<\/a>\u00a0(<a title=\"NASDAQ : AAPL\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-AAPL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AAPL<\/a>)\u00a0iPhones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Corning<\/strong> discussed its upcoming display tech at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/summit\/mobile\/video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MIT Mobile Technology Summit<\/a>. The antimicrobial coating on the new glass can kill virtually all nasty microbes on the screen&#8217;s surface over a course of two hours. It&#8217;s not instantaneous, but it&#8217;s way better than having a pocket petri dish,\u00a0Mr. Limer\u00a0observed.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Posts by Signe Brewster\" href=\"http:\/\/gigaom.com\/author\/signejb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"author noopener noreferrer\">Signe Brewster<\/a>\u00a0at <a title=\"GigaOM\" href=\"http:\/\/gigaom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>GigaOM<\/em><\/a> <a title=\"Phone screens could soon be visible in direct sunlight and even fight germs\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201204051907\/https:\/\/gigaom.com\/2013\/07\/05\/phone-screens-could-soon-be-visible-in-direct-sunlight-and-even-fight-germs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a> that during the presentation, Corning senior vice president Jeff Evenson reported that the company is working on glass that <strong>kills viruses and germs<\/strong> \u2014 even the drug-resistant variety. <em>GigaOM<\/em> says that the VP noted a study that found smartphones carry more microbes than the average public toilet. He displayed how the glass kills microbes over time with slides depicting them as bright green dots. After two hours, the antimicrobial glass had a million times fewer bacteria than standard phone glass. Corning&#8217;s Evenson said<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>\u201cYou\u2019re eating your sandwich at your desk. Your smartphone rings. You answer it. You complete the call, put your smartphone down and you go back to eating your sandwich with the same hand. This should result in seeing your phone in broad daylight is about to get way easier.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u00a0rb-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Until Corning releases Gorilla Glass 3, washing your hands is a good idea, and licking your iPhone screen is probably a bad idea. In order to clean your iPhone, Apple <span style=\"color: #777777;\">recommends<\/span>:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-108004 size-medium\" title=\"Wash your hands\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/nurse-washing-her-hands-1.jpg?resize=103%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Wash your hands\" width=\"103\" height=\"150\" \/>To clean iPhone, unplug all cables and turn off iPhone (press and hold the Sleep\/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings.\u00a0<strong>Don\u2019t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean your iPhone.<\/strong> The front and back glass surfaces have an oleophobic coating. Simply wipe these surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove fingerprints.
