{"id":51,"date":"2008-09-22T02:45:13","date_gmt":"2008-09-22T06:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rbachnet.wwwmi3-ss40.a2hosted.com\/?p=51"},"modified":"2022-12-30T12:01:11","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T17:01:11","slug":"ipv6-anyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rbach.net\/index.php\/ipv6-anyone\/","title":{"rendered":"IPv6 anyone?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Updated 03-10-09<\/strong> The web monitoring company <a title=\"Pingdom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pingdom.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pingdom<\/a> says that IPv6 traffic at the <a title=\"Amsterdam Internet Exchange\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ams-ix.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amsterdam Internet Exchange<\/a> (AMS-IX), the Internet&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amsterdam_Internet_Exchange\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">biggest exchange<\/a>, accounted for just 0.25 percent of total Internet traffic.<\/p>\n<p><em>rb- Who says IPv6 isn&#8217;t coming? This study shows a 250% increase in IPv6 use from the data reported by Arbor Networks in September 2008.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arbornetworks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arbor Networks<\/a> released a study The E<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210509174928\/https:\/\/foxnetlab.com\/index.php\/9-articles\/132-ipv6-in-cisco-or-the-future-is-about-to-come\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-110643 size-thumbnail\" title=\"IPv6 anyone?\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipv6_logo-17.jpg?resize=75%2C44&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"IPv6 anyone?\" width=\"75\" height=\"44\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipv6_logo-17.jpg?resize=75%2C44&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipv6_logo-17.jpg?w=117&amp;ssl=1 117w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 75px) 100vw, 75px\" \/><\/a>nd is Near but is IPv6? which says the adoption of <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170312153956\/http:\/\/www.whatis.com\/\">IPv6<\/a> has been very slow thus far. The network security vendor produced the study along with the <a title=\"University of Michigan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.umich.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Michigan<\/a> and about 100 ISPs and content companies. It suggested that IPv6 adoption is growing but currently amounts to less than one-hundredth of 1% of Internet traffic.<\/p>\n<p>As has been pointed out in this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rbach.net\/\">blog<\/a> IPv4 addresses are running out, but IPv6 is still trying to gain some traction.<\/p>\n<p><em><a title=\"Ralph Bach\" href=\"https:\/\/rbach.net\/index.php\/new-resume\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ralph Bach<\/a>\u00a0has been in IT long enough to know better and has blogged from his\u00a0<a title=\"Bach Seat\" href=\"https:\/\/rbach.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bach Seat<\/a> about IT, careers, and anything else that catches his attention since 2005.
