Despite the much bally hoed launch of the new <a title=\"iPad Air 2\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170320213915\/http:\/\/www.apple.com\/ipad-air-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iPad Air 2<\/a> and <a title=\" iPad mini 3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/ipad-mini-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iPad mini 3<\/a>, sales of Apple&#8217;s iPad have<strong> sunk to their lowest level<\/strong> since the 2011 introduction of the <a title=\"IDevice\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IDevice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener noreferrer\">iDevice<\/a>.This <a title=\"The Rise And Fall Of The iPad\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/the-rise-and-fall-of-the-ipad-2014-10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chart<\/a> from <em><a title=\"Business Insider\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Business Insider<\/a><\/em> shows the decline of iPad sales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apple CEO Tim Cook<\/strong> was unfazed about the iPad&#8217;s plunging sales. During Apple&#8217;s latest earnings call Apple&#8217;s Cook <a title=\" Apple's (AAPL) CEO Tim Cook On Q4 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript \" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210813145542\/https:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/article\/2576865-apples-aapl-ceo-tim-cook-on-q4-2014-results-earnings-call-transcript\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>, &#8220;<em>I&#8217;m very bullish on where we can take iPad over time<\/em>.&#8221;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/the-rise-and-fall-of-the-ipad-2014-10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-106744\" title=\"Apple Quarterly Revenue\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipad-mac-revenue-chart.jpg?resize=400%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Apple Quarterly Revenue\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipad-mac-revenue-chart.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipad-mac-revenue-chart.jpg?resize=75%2C56&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipad-mac-revenue-chart.jpg?resize=150%2C113&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipad-mac-revenue-chart.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipad-mac-revenue-chart.jpg?w=1200&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/ipad-mac-revenue-chart.jpg?w=960&amp;ssl=1 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Users don&#8217;t want a tablet<\/h3>\n<p>Despite CEO Cook&#8217;s optimism, research from <a title=\"Kantar Worldpanel Comtech\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kantarworldpanel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kantar Worldpanel Comtech<\/a> is not so sure. In an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kantarworldpanel.com\/global\/News\/Tablets-arent-smartphones#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">analysis<\/a> of the tablet market, they found that consumers believe that they need the latest iPad. Or any tablet for that matter.<\/p>\n<p>Their conclusion is based on research which found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A majority of U.S. non-tablet owners said they would <strong>not buy a tablet in the next 12 months<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Of those who will not buy a tablet, 725 said that their <strong>PC or laptop was &#8220;good enough&#8221;<\/strong> as the reason why they are not buying a tablet in the next year.<\/li>\n<li>Tablets are not seen as an alternative to <a title=\"Smart phone\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180907144717\/http:\/\/www.wikinvest.com:80\/concept\/Smart_phone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikinvest noopener noreferrer\">smartphones<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Carolina Milanesi\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160307190258\/http:\/\/www.kantarworldpanel.com\/global\/About-Us\/Our-experts\/Carolina-Milanesi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carolina Milanesi<\/a>, chief of research at Kantar Worldpanel laid out four reasons why tablets sales are not growing at the rate many had expected.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20140201015745\/http:\/\/azhomerescue.net:80\/existing-homes-sales-decline-annually-for-1st-time-in-29-months\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-106747\" title=\"current tablet owners plan to keep their tablets even after upgrading to a new one\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/declining_sales.jpg?resize=80%2C100&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"current tablet owners plan to keep their tablets even after upgrading to a new one\" width=\"80\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/declining_sales.jpg?resize=120%2C150&amp;ssl=1 120w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/declining_sales.jpg?resize=60%2C75&amp;ssl=1 60w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/declining_sales.jpg?w=240&amp;ssl=1 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 80px) 100vw, 80px\" \/><\/a>Replacement cycles are longer for tablets<\/strong> than smartphones.
