According to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/security\/2015\/09\/mit-is-tops-in-bad-security-at-major-universities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ArsTechnica<\/a><\/em> the security startup pegged <a href=\"http:\/\/web.mit.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MIT<\/a> near the bottom of its security posture list. What the <em>Ars<\/em> article did not tell us what universities had excellent security postures.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p>The other surprising result is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hfcc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Henry Ford Community College<\/a>, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofdearborn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dearborn, Michigan<\/a> has the 5th best security posture in the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/security_score\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SecurityScorecard<\/a> report of 485 colleges and universities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardcow.com\/95544\/liberal-arts-building-henry-ford-community-college-dearborn-michigan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-105584\" title=\"Henry Ford Community College,\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/hfcc.jpg?resize=401%2C254&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Henry Ford Community College\" width=\"401\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/hfcc.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/hfcc.jpg?resize=75%2C48&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/hfcc.jpg?resize=150%2C95&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 401px) 100vw, 401px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The report says <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hfcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HFCC<\/a> is among the best securing their network. HFCC scored well in all phases of the online security studied including:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Web Application Security,<\/li>\n<li>Network Security,<\/li>\n<li>Endpoint Security,<\/li>\n<li>Hacker Chatter,<\/li>\n<li>Social Engineering,<\/li>\n<li>DNS Health,<\/li>\n<li>IP Reputation,<\/li>\n<li>Patching Cadence, and<\/li>\n<li>Password Exposure.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The report explains that each category consists of dozens of security-risk indicators, resulting in a holistic security assessment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>rb-<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>As an alumnus and former instructor at HFCC, I say well done!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a title=\"Ralph Bach\" href=\"https:\/\/rbach.net\/index.php\/new-resume\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ralph Bach<\/a>\u00a0has been in IT long enough to know better and has blogged from his\u00a0<a title=\"Bach Seat\" href=\"https:\/\/rbach.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bach Seat<\/a> about IT, careers, and anything else that catches his attention since 2005.
