There are <strong>over 1.1 billion websites on the Internet<\/strong>, but the majority of all traffic actually goes to a very small number of firms. <strong>Seven companies control 30%<\/strong> of the top 100 websites and the related web traffic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.peru.k12.in.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-97525 \" title=\"Internet\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/internet1.png?resize=86%2C69&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Internet\" width=\"86\" height=\"69\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/internet1.png?resize=150%2C121&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/internet1.png?resize=75%2C61&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/internet1.png?w=404&amp;ssl=1 404w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 86px) 100vw, 86px\" \/><\/a>Not surprisingly Alphabet controls the most popular sites on the web, Google and YouTube. Surprisingly, Microsoft controls the most sites in the top 100. Redmond controls seven of the top web properties including recently purchased LinkedIn, Bing, and Microsoft.com. For a long time, MSFT\u2019s online efforts were a <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/insider\/2013\/01\/25\/microsoft-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">disaster<\/a>. That seems to have changed with Azure, but I still hate Bing. According to the Vodien infographic <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/abc.xyz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alphabet<\/a> <\/strong>controls four of the most popular sites.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google<\/a> (#1),<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> (#2),<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogger.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blogger<\/a> (#26), and<\/li>\n<li>Google User Content (#46).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualcapitalist.com\/100-websites-rule-internet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Visual Capitalist<\/em><\/a> points out that Google.com gets an astounding 28 billion visits per month. The next closest is also a Google-owned property, YouTube, which brings in 20.5 billion visits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facebook<\/strong> (<a title=\"NASDAQ : FB\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-FB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FB<\/a>) controls two of the most popular websites; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> (#3) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> (#13).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Jeff-Bezos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeff Bezo&#8217;s<\/a> firm <strong>Amazon<\/strong> (<a title=\"NASDAQ : AMZN\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-AMZN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AMZN<\/a>) directs four popular websites;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amazon.com<\/a> (#4),<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Imdb<\/a> (#29),<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitch <\/a>(#40),<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Post<\/a> (#54), and<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amazon Web Services <\/a>(#68).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The infographic says<strong> <a title=\"Verizon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.verizon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Verizon<\/a><\/strong> (<a title=\"NASDAQ : VZ\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NYSE-VZ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VZ<\/a>) now controls the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Huffington Post<\/a> (#49) and <a title=\"AOL\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20141229023435\/http:\/\/www.crunchbase.com:80\/company\/aol\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"crunchbase noopener noreferrer\">AOL<\/a> (#59) and will control <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yahoo<\/a> (#5) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tumlr<\/a> (#12) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2017\/01\/24\/the-verizon-yahoo-deal-is-still-on--for-now.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">if the deal closes<\/a> in 2017 Q2.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reddit.com<\/a><\/strong> comes in at #7 and Reddituploads.com is #61.<\/p>\n<p>Online retailer <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ebay.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eBay<\/a> <\/strong>comes in as the #8 website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/fact-checker\/wp\/2017\/03\/10\/what-trump-got-wrong-on-twitter-this-week-7\/?utm_term=.a57f86516479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">POTUS<\/a> favorite <strong><a title=\"Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a><\/strong> (<a title=\"NYSE : TWTR\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NYSE-TWTR\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TWTR<\/a>) is the 9th ranked website and t.co is #25.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Digital media player\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Digital_media_player\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener wikipedia noreferrer\">Video streamer<\/a> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Netflix<\/a><\/strong> comes in ranked #10 by Vodien.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Microsoft <\/strong>(<a title=\"NASDAQ | MSFT\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/finance?cid=358464\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MSFT<\/a>) controls 7 of the top 100 websites with recently purchased <a title=\"LinkedIn\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LinkedIn<\/a> at #11, <a href=\"https:\/\/login.live.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live.com<\/a> #14. so-so search engine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bing<\/a> is #17, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.office.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Office.com<\/a> (#23),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170619234123\/https:\/\/login.microsoftonline.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft Online Services <\/a>(#24), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MSN<\/a> (#37), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft.com<\/a> (#41).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vodien.com\/da-100-websites-rule-internet.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><br \/>\n<\/a><a
