The good news comes from the annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberstates.org\/.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cyberstates 2017<\/a> report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comptia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CompTIA<\/a>. The technology association found that Michigan employers <strong>added more than 10,700 new tech jobs <\/strong>in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20190905063344\/https:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/news\/Michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-98963 \" title=\"Michigan ranks 10th for tech industry employment\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/michigan5-10.png?resize=90%2C101&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Michigan ranks 10th\u00a0for tech industry employment\" width=\"90\" height=\"101\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/michigan5-10.png?w=134&amp;ssl=1 134w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/michigan5-10.png?resize=67%2C75&amp;ssl=1 67w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 90px) 100vw, 90px\" \/><\/a>The survey also found that Michigan ranks 10th\u00a0among the 50 states for tech industry employment with an estimated 221,994 workers. Michigan was in the <strong>top five states<\/strong> for 2016 tech industry job growth on a percentage change basis.<\/p>\n<p>Technology occupations across all other industries in Michigan \u2013 the second part of the tech workforce \u2013 reached an estimated 271,900 in 2016. The tech sector accounts for an estimated 6.6 percent of the overall Michigan economy. The tech industry employs an estimated 5.3 percent of the overall state workforce. Michigan ranks 21st nationally in average tech industry wages.<\/p>\n<p>Other Key Findings<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160519202539\/http:\/\/cloudcomputing.sys-con.com:80\/node\/1622124\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-98970\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/upward-arrow-2.png?resize=117%2C49&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"average wage for a Michigan tech industry worker was an estimated $89,200 \" width=\"117\" height=\"49\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/upward-arrow-2.png?resize=150%2C63&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/upward-arrow-2.png?resize=75%2C31&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/upward-arrow-2.png?w=468&amp;ssl=1 468w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 117px) 100vw, 117px\" \/><\/a>Michigan ranks 27th among all states in the Cyberstates 2017 Innovation Score, which is based on an analysis of new tech patents, tech startups, and new tech business establishments on a per capita basis.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan is home to an estimated <strong>11,223 tech business<\/strong> establishments.
