On its blog, the party claims that about 11 percent of more than 4.1 million Swiss employees have to waste their time assisting in the creation of PowerPoint presentations.<\/p>\n<p><em> <a href=\"https:\/\/office.microsoft.com\/en-us\/powerpoint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-110034 size-thumbnail\" title=\"Microsoft PowerPoint logo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/powerpoint_logo.png?resize=75%2C72&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Microsoft PowerPoint logo\" width=\"75\" height=\"72\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/powerpoint_logo.png?resize=75%2C72&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/powerpoint_logo.png?w=150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 75px) 100vw, 75px\" \/><\/a><\/em><a title=\"www.cio.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>CIO.com<\/em> <\/a><a title=\"www.cio.com\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180401113458\/https:\/\/www.cio.com.au\/article\/392397\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">says<\/a> the APPP, calculates the use of <a title=\"www.anti-powerpoint-party.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.anti-powerpoint-party.com\/the-cause\/money-destruction-reports\/national-economy-losses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">presentation <strong>software costs the Swiss economy<\/strong> 2.1 billion Swiss francs<\/a> (US <strong>$2.5 billion) annually<\/strong>, while across Europe, presentation software causes an economic loss of \u20ac110 billion (US$160 billion). <em>TechEye<\/em> ironically points out that the amount is how much the <a title=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/economy-watch\/2010\/05\/greek_debt_bailout_concessions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greek debt bail-out<\/a> will cost. APPP bases its calculations on unverified assumptions about the number of employees attending presentations each week and supposes that 85 percent of those employees see no purpose in the presentations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-110037\" title=\"Microsoft logo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/microsoft_oldlogo.jpg?resize=110%2C57&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Microsoft logo\" width=\"110\" height=\"57\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/microsoft_oldlogo.jpg?w=125&amp;ssl=1 125w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/microsoft_oldlogo.jpg?resize=75%2C39&amp;ssl=1 75w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 110px) 100vw, 110px\" \/><\/a>APPP is aiming high. It plans to become the <strong>fourth strongest political party in Switzerland<\/strong>. It has already had to adapt its strategy to emphasize that it is not just Microsoft&#8217;s <a title=\"www.youtube.com\" href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/lpvgfmEU2Ck\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Powerpoint<\/a> software it wants to be banned but all makers of such software.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it has a good chance of getting what it wants. In Switzerland, citizens can force a referendum on any subject. All it takes is 100,000 voters to sign a petition demanding one. It also looks like it has the backing of the <a title=\"www.nytimes.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/04\/27\/world\/27powerpoint.html?hp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Army<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-110039\" title=\"Flip chart\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/flip_chart.jpg?resize=110%2C107&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Flip chart\" width=\"110\" height=\"107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/flip_chart.jpg?resize=150%2C145&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/flip_chart.jpg?resize=75%2C73&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/flip_chart.jpg?w=194&amp;ssl=1 194w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 110px) 100vw, 110px\" \/>The <em><a title=\"www.businessinsider.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BusinessInsider<\/a><\/em> <a title=\"www.businessinsider.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/switzerland-powerpoint-ban-2011-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a> that the APPP&#8217;s founder <a title=\"Matthias Poehm\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201008190310\/http:\/\/www.anti-powerpoint-party.com\/party\/the-founder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthias Poehm<\/a> is a public speaking trainer. He has a particularly strong aversion to PowerPoint. Mr. Poehm has written a book called &#8220;The PowerPoint Fallacy&#8221; which just so happens to be featured on the APPP website.
