Along the way, the Wolverines busted a few brackets. In keeping with the March bracket madness, <a href=\"https:\/\/keepersecurity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keeper Security<\/a> ran an analysis they&#8217;ve called &#8220;Password Madness&#8221;. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/keeper-security-releases-its-password-bracket-to-highlight-most-used-team-mascots-300618510.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Password Madness<\/strong><\/a>, they developed their own bracketology of bad passwords. During Password Madness, the publisher of password manager software ran an analysis on 1.4 billion clear-text passwords\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/4iqdelvedeep\/1-4-billion-clear-text-credentials-discovered-in-a-single-database-3131d0a1ae14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">4iQ found<\/a>\u00a0on the dark web for <strong>sports team mascots<\/strong> used as passwords.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/umich.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-128413\" title=\"University of Michigan\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/umich.png?resize=111%2C79&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"University of Michigan\" width=\"111\" height=\"79\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/umich.png?resize=150%2C107&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/umich.png?resize=1024%2C732&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/umich.png?resize=75%2C54&amp;ssl=1 75w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/umich.png?resize=768%2C549&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/umich.png?w=1161&amp;ssl=1 1161w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/umich.png?w=960&amp;ssl=1 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 111px) 100vw, 111px\" \/><\/a>Followers of <a href=\"https:\/\/rbach.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Bach Seat<\/em><\/a> already know that passwords suck and there is a <a title=\"25 Most-Used Passwords Revealed\" href=\"https:\/\/rbach.net\/index.php\/25-most-used-passwords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">long list of passwords<\/a> like &#8220;password&#8221; and &#8220;123456&#8221; that should be banned from use. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/keeper-security-releases-its-password-bracket-to-highlight-most-used-team-mascots-300618510.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> from Keeper Security, of all the passwords looked at, those containing &#8220;<strong>Tiger<\/strong>&#8221; and its variations (such as &#8220;T1ger&#8221;, &#8220;T1g3r&#8221;, etc.) appeared 187 percent more often than passwords containing variations of &#8220;<strong>Eagle<\/strong>,&#8221; the second-most common password set found, and nearly 850 percent more than the least common password, which was &#8220;Bluejay&#8221; and its variations.<\/p>\n<p>The not so \u00e9lite eight passwords on their list are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lenspeaks.blogspot.com\/2015\/08\/the-sunday-memory-drawer-summer-games.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Password\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-gjMrbW10s7A\/VbprUx5yquI\/AAAAAAAAOyc\/PVdeqdh_s14\/s400\/password.jpg?resize=258%2C129&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Password\" width=\"258\" height=\"129\" \/><\/a>Cowboy<\/li>\n<li>Eagle<\/li>\n<li>Hurricane<\/li>\n<li>Irish<\/li>\n<li>Pirate<\/li>\n<li>Spartan<\/li>\n<li>Tiger<\/li>\n<li>Trojan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is bad, as I have pointed out, many people re-use the same password on nearly every online account. This behavior opens up hundreds of thousands of credentials to speedy hacking. Keeper Security recommends rather than using their favorite sports team as a password hoops fans, instead concentrate on using unique, high-strength, passwords for each login.
