href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com.\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apple<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NASDAQ-AAPL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AAPL<\/a>) i<a title=\"iPad\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/ipad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pad<\/a> <strong>more than half of companies lack a clear i<del>Pad<\/del> tablet strategy<\/strong> according to a recent survey by <a title=\"Dimensional Research\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dimensionalresearch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dimensional Research<\/a>. <a title=\"www.cnet.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>CNET&#8217;s<\/em><\/a> Stephen Shankland <a title=\"www.cnet.com\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20130128061541\/http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-30685_3-20063495-264.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">points out<\/a> the survey which found that &#8220;<em>Most participants, 51 percent, indicated that they did not have a clearly articulated strategy.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-106761 size-thumbnail\" title=\"iPad\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/apple_logo-7.jpg?resize=67%2C75&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"iPad\" width=\"67\" height=\"75\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 67px) 100vw, 67px\" \/><\/a>The survey of 448 businesses found that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>22% have already deployed tablets.<\/li>\n<li>22% plan to do so this year<\/li>\n<li>24% plan to next year<\/li>\n<li>20% have no plans to deploy tablets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dimensional Research polled the firms on whose tablet they intend to deploy and found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RIMM<\/a>) <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blackberry.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener noreferrer\">BlackBerry<\/a> <a title=\"Blackberry Playbook\" href=\"http:\/\/us.blackberry.com\/playbook-tablet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PlayBook<\/a><\/li>\n<li>14% <a title=\"HP\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HP<\/a>&#8216;s (<a title=\"NYSE : HPQ\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nyse.com\/quote\/XNYS:HPQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HPQ<\/a>) <a title=\"HP Slate\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20111208163729\/http:\/\/h10010.www1.hp.com:80\/wwpc\/us\/en\/sm\/WF05a\/321957-321957-64295-3841267-3955550-4332585.html?jumpid=in_r602_slate\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110415083157\/http:\/\/www.motorola.com:80\/staticfiles\/Consumers\/XOOM\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Xoom<\/a><\/li>\n<li>11% <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dell.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dell<\/a>\u2018s (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/NYSE-DELL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DELL<\/a>) <a title=\"Dell Streak\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20111130150519\/http:\/\/www.dell.com:80\/us\/p\/mobile-streak-7\/pd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Streak<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Ann All\" href=\"http:\/\/www.itbusinessedge.com\/cm\/blogs\/all\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ann All<\/a> at <a title=\"www.itbusinessedge.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.itbusinessedge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>ITBusinessEdge.com<\/em><\/a> <a title=\"www.itbusinessedge.com\" href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20120609192955\/http:\/\/www.itbusinessedge.com\/cm\/blogs\/all\/more-than-half-of-companies-lack-clear-tablet-strategy\/?cs=47070\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">says<\/a> the survey is an affirmation that the <a title=\"BYOT\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/BL-DGB-22118\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BYOT<\/a> (Bring Your Own Technology) trend is not hype, 41% of survey respondents said individual employees were using tablets they had purchased themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The research firm also found that 82% of firms will use tablets to complement, and not replace, laptops. This fact is not lost on IT Pros. 42% of IT staff said business stakeholders do not understand the need for more development like new front pages specifically for the iPad.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the companies I&#8217;ve spoken with seem to discover multiple use cases they hadn&#8217;t imagined for tablets when they begin putting them into users&#8217; hands.
