The overall trend over the last 12 months in spam volume is still headed up. This upward trend continues despite a year-long decline in the trend from April 2008 to April 2009, a trend <a title=\"googleenterprise.blogspot.com\" href=\"http:\/\/googleenterprise.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/spam-data-and-trends-q1-2009.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google also noted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>May 2009 saw a doubling of the spam received which moved the trend line up. The amount of spam in June 2008 fell back within the expected range, which coaxed the trend higher. If the amount of SPAM received in July 2009 stays at the average projected levels, the trend will continue to climb, which <a href=\"http:\/\/googleenterprise.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/spam-data-and-trends-q1-2009.html&#96;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google describes<\/a> as\u00a0 &#8220;the recent upward trajectory of spam &#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/spamhistory.gif?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-111133\" title=\"SPAM history\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/spamhistory.gif?resize=401%2C219&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"SPAM history\" width=\"401\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/spamhistory.gif?resize=150%2C82&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rbach.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/spamhistory.gif?resize=75%2C41&amp;ssl=1 75w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 401px) 100vw, 401px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">These results are based on spam statistics from my business email account. The practice of safer emailing, which includes the judicious use of email filters, anti-malware software on the desktop a hosted email server and Gmail helps keep spam under control.
